/ Hunt for off-licence robbers

Police are hunting knife-wielding robbers who held up a Salford off licence.

At about 6.30pm on Friday 7 December 2012, two masked men ran into the Little Hulton News and Booze store on Hulton Avenue. One had a machete while the other had a knife.

They ran towards the till and stole a cash box containing cash before running out again, threatening staff as they left.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Both offenders were in their 20s and about 6ft tall. One had a stocky build and was wearing a grey Nike hoody and a grey face covering. He carried what looked like a rusty machete.

The other man was slimmer and wearing a dark hoody, a dark face covering and carrying a kitchen knife.

Detective Constable Dave Cupitt, of Salford CID, said: “Thankfully no-one was hurt in this robbery, but that doesn’t lesson the impact on the shop staff.

“It happened at a time when people are going home for the weekend so I am confident that there would have been people around who may have seen something.

“If you saw these criminals hanging around outside the shop or nearby then please pick up the phone. Your call could help us put away two violent robbers.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Salford CID on 0161 856 5351 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
