Police are investigating after a man was found injured in Clayton.

Shortly before 10am on Saturday 12 January 2013, police were called to Glamis Avenue in Clayton following reports of a man being found injured.

Officers attended and found that a 40-year-old man was unconscious in a wheelie bin.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to several bruises on his body.

The man is in a stable condition in hospital and police enquiries into the circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Chris Mellors, based at Central Park, said: "First of all, I would like to say that we are in the early stages of this investigation.

"The victim has little recollection of what happened to him but based on the condition he was found in, we do believe he was the victim of an assault.

"We are therefore keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area.

"I would like to reassure residents that this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no reason for anyone to be overly alarmed."
