A couple were attacked as they walked home from a shopping trip in Cheadle.

At about 7.30pm on Tuesday 30 October 2012, a 27-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were shopping in Cheadle.

They walked along Oak Road when they were approached by two men carrying baseball bats.

One of the attackers hit the man several times in the face and head and continued to hit him in the body.

The two men ran off towards Cheadle village.

There are no further descriptions.

Detective Constable Gareth Mason from Stockport CID, said: “This was an unprovoked and vicious attack which left the victims with serious injuries and very shaken up by the assault.

"If you witnessed this completely random attack, or may have seen suspicious behaviour that would help our inquiry, we would ask that they get in touch.”
