Four masked men threatened a woman in front of her two-year-old son during a robbery in Cheetham.
At around 2.35pm on Wednesday 17 October 2012, four men smashed a front door glass panel of a house on Howard Spring Walk and walked inside.
They made their way upstairs, with one of the offenders walking into the bedroom where the 35-year-old victim was with her son.
She attempted to push him out of the doorway but all four men overpowered her before she was threatened with a knife.
One of the men threatened to stab her if she did not give him money and jewellery.
She told them she had no money but handed them jewellery before the offenders stole two laptops.
She was then told that if the jewellery was fake, they would return and kill her before all four left.
All four men wore balaclavas and dark clothing and aged in their late teens or early 20s. One of them was distinctively taller than the others.
Detective Constable Nick Boardman from North Manchester CID said: “This is a shocking incident and shows how little they regarded their victim by threatening her in front of her child and claiming she would be killed if the items they stole was not genuine.
“Understandably, the victim has been left terrified after her ordeal and I would ask anyone who may have seen four men wearing dark clothing and acting suspiciously in the area to contact police.
“This happened in broad daylight and we believe someone must have seen something. If you did, we are keen to hear from you.”
