Police have issued CCTV images of masked thieves as they stole takings from a bookmakers in Sale.

At about 5.30pm on Wednesday 7 November 2012, three masked men armed with hammers drove a blue or purple Ford Fiesta onto a car park next to Coral Bookmakers on Northernden Road.

The car was fitted with stolen plates with the vehicle registration number V799 GBY.

Two of the men walked into the shop, while one stood at the doorway. The thieves approached the security screen on the counter and used a large metal hammer to smash the glass.

Both offenders jumped over the counter and stole cash from the till. They ran out of the shop and drove off in the direction of Northern Moor.

The first man was over 6ft tall, he wore a black ski mask and a grey hooded top with a darker top underneath. This top had white piping around the hood and a silver zip to the front.

He was also wearing black combat pants which were tucked into dark socks. A pair of blue jeans were sticking out of the tracksuit waist. He was carrying a sledge hammer.

The second man wore a black balaclava with a peaked cap and a black hooded top. He wore black shiny tracksuit bottoms with a white and red flash on the calf.

The third man wore a black balaclava, a Bench beige and grey hooded top with a distinct pattern. He also wore black Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three stripes up each leg and black Adidas trainers.

Detective Constable David Wood from Stretford CID, said: "The area would have been busy at the time of this robbery and I am urging anyone who saw what happened to call me.

"I would urge you to take a close look at the CCTV images, do you recognise either of the men.

"If you saw anything that day, be it the men going in or out of the bookmakers, or you hear anything at all, please call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call Stretford CID on 0161 856 7657 quoting the reference 168468R/12 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
