Serious collision in Oldham


Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Oldham that left an 80-year-old man in hospital.

At around 8.35am on Friday 8 September 2017, a White VW Van was travelling along Heron Street in Werneth, and when it approached the junction with Wellington Road, it collided with an 80-year-old man who was crossing the road.

man suffered, what were initially believed to be minor injuries, but he was taken to hospital where he deteriorated and is now being treated for serious injuries.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family at this distressing time and we have specially trained officers offering them support.

“Whilst we appreciate that the collision occurred over a week ago we are asking anyone saw the collision, or anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has dash-cam footage, to come forward.”
