Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after a man died following an assault in Rochdale.
At around 9.15pm on Thursday 28 September 2017, police were called to Dixy Chicken takeaway near Reed Hill to reports of an assault.
A 59-year-old man had made his way from the Reed Hotel to the takeaway shop, where four men were loitering, one of which punched the man in the face.
The victim, Keith Maden, fell backwards and hit his head on the floor.
He was taken to hospital for treatment of this serious head injury, but later, sadly died.
Detective Inspector John Mulvihill of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This was an absolutely tragic incident, made worse by the fact this man was only just recovering from a serious illness.
“I am asking for anyone who was with Keith on the night of the assault, or was around the takeaway at the time, to please get in touch.
“Keith’s family have questions that need answering, so even the smallest bit of information could be the key to giving them the answers they deserve.”
