Comments: My prayers go out to Mr Todds wife and family. Reading the tributes, an hearing about the officer that was Michael Todd, reminds me of why I joined and inspires me to be the kind of leader and officer this man was. His death is not in vain.Even in death He inspires many. God bless you and your family. I really wish we'd had a chance to have you here as Commissioner.

Name: Ewen Wilson

Town: Essex

Comments: Back a good few years and despite being extremely busy as a Ch/Supt at HQ Mr Todd took the effort to spend some time speaking to me and passing advice on leadership and development. At the time I was a constable on shift and had not had the priveledge of meeting Mr Todd before. Such was the measure of this man - he made you feel valued and without question everyone wanted to work for him. As for the advice he gave me - it was priceless and has stood me in great stead. Best wishes to his family and may he rest in peace. Policing has lost a great leader.

Name: Linda Van Den Hende

Town: London

Comments: I worked with Michael when he was the DAC in the HR department of the Met when he and I were both members of the Senior management team. Michael was a totally professional officer, dedicated to being a police officer. A job he obviously loved. HR was a new area for him and he was never afraid to ask questions of those who had more experience in that field. He was a valued colleague whose sense of humour was often used to defuse overly serious discussions. His sense of fairness shone through in his dealing with complex situations where a common sense appraoch was needed. Although a senior police officer he listened to and respected the contribution of all staff whatever their role in the organisation. I was deeply saddened by his untimely death and my thoughts are with his family. Regardless of some of the more sensational stories about him, he was a dedicated police officer whose contribution to national policing cannot be denied.

Comments: I am a solicitor in the Met Police Directorate of Legal Services. 'Toddy' was my client for a while in the Mayday litigation and I was very impressed with him as a police officer. I was convinced that we would see him again in the Met as Commissioner. I am very sad that we will not. A great loss to policing.

Name: Wilson Kennedy

Town: Essex

Comments: I had the priviledge of knowing Mike during his early career when we were 2 of the 3 detectives on a small shift. He had a sense of humour, fairness and responsibility that clearly defined him as someone who would go far in the service. I came as no surprise to those that met him to find that not only did he make it to the very top but he did so whilst maintaining the admiration and following of the rank and file. Every so often the Police Service produces a truely exceptional leader, Mike was one of these. I wish his family the strength to get through this difficult time.
