Witness appeal following fire

Police are appealing for witnesses following a large fire in Radcliffe.

On the evening of Thursday, 23 August 2012, police and fire officers were called to Bury Road, Radcliffe, following reports of a fire.

On arrival, officers discovered a factory was on fire.

The blaze was extinguished and around 100 homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Extensive damage was caused to the factory building.

No one was injured

Detective inspector Phillip Naughton from the Volume Crime Team said: “We are continuing a joint investigation alongside our colleagues from the fire service to establish what caused the factory to go up in flames.

“I would ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has information as to how the blaze started, to contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8016 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
