Police issue vehicle crime warning to Golborne resident

Officers from the Golborne and Lowton West Neighbourhood Police Team are warning residents to secure their vehicles and remove valuables following a spate of vehicle crime in the area.

On 16 July 2012 thieves gained entry to an insecure vehicle on Stewarton Close, Golborne and stole a sat nav from the glove box and a laptop from the boot. On the same night a purse and a mobile phone were stolen from another insecure vehicle on Millingford Avenue in Golborne.

PC Chris Clarke from the Golborne and Lowton West Neighbourhood Police Team said: "Patrols have been increased in the area and we have a mixture of uniformed and plain clothed officers out and about to deter thieves. Police Community Support Officers have also been delivering crime prevention letters to residents in streets where offences have occurred.

"I would ask all residents of Golborne to ensure vehicles are locked overnight and all valuables are removed. If anyone witnesses any suspicious activity, such as people looking through car windows, please report this to the police immediately by calling the non-emergency number, 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
