Police are investigating a man’s death in Rochdale.

Shortly before 9:40pm on Wednesday 9 May 2018, police were called to an address on Melrose in Rochdale to reports of men fighting.

Officers attended and found a man with stab wounds.

The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

Two men, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector John Mulvihill, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This is a tragic set of circumstances which has resulted in a young man losing his life and my thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time.

“We currently have two men in custody on suspicion of murder and they will be question by detectives later today as we try to establish exactly what has happened.

“In the meantime, I would ask that anybody with information about this incident, no matter how big or small you think that may be, to please contact the police.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 6777, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
