Currently we are increasing our firearms capability and as such we are offering transfer opportunities to officers at the rank of constable who wish to transfer to a busy, challenging and diverse area.

Officers who are wishing to transfer must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a serving Police Officer within another Home Office Force

  • You must be currently trained and operationally competent in the role profiles of; Armed Response Vehicle (ARV), Specialist Firearms Officer (SFO) or Counter Terrorist Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO).

Depending on operational need, successful candidates could be posted to work within the newly formed Force Operations Team, Manchester Airport or the Firearms Unit within the Specialist Operations Branch.

We are only able to accept applications from AFOs currently serving in recognised Home Office Forces. This excludes; Civil Nuclear Constabulary, Ministry of Defence Police and Police Scotland.

Any officer aspiring to be an SFO/CTSFO MUST be prepared to go through Enhanced Vetting prior to appointment with Greater Manchester Police. To do this, you will be required to provide 5 years residency checks to our Force Vetting Unit.
