Counter Terrorism: National Threat Levels
Assessments of the level of threat from terrorism are made nationally by the Home Office. The levels are:
|Critical||An attack is expected imminently|
|Severe||An attack is highly likely|
|Substantial||An attack is a strong possibility|
|Moderate||An attack is possible but not likely|
|Low||An attack is unlikely|
The threat levels don’t require public action, but give an indication of the work that will be taking place by officers and staff behind the scenes.
