Dicing with Death: Belt Up

Always wear a seatbelt. In a crash you are twice as likely to die if you don't wear one.

Watch our video message for guidance on the importance of wearing a seatbelt, from Inspector Martin O'Connor who works in the Roads Policing Unit.

Greater Manchester Police deploys 3 Smartcars across the region to film motorists who are not wearing a seatbelt.  The camera technology is very effective, and the quality of evidence is excellent.  Between 500-700 offences are recorded every day.

Greater Manchester Police enforced over 7,000 offences for no seatbelt being worn in 2011, more than 21 each day of the year.

Visit the Think! website for information on wearing your seatbelt.

You can help keep the roads safer by providing information about those driving whilst disqualified or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, by calling us directly on 101 the single non-emergency number or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
