Police have made three arrests following a fatal collision in Harpurhey.
At 8.15pm on Friday 1 December 2017, a black BMW 320 was seen driving along Fernclough Road towards Lathbury Road before colliding with 28-year-old Callum Steadman, who was crossing the road at the time.
The driver failed to stop at the scene and the car - which is believed to be stolen and using false plates - was later found abandoned on Clevedon Street in Harpurhey.
Callum was taken to hospital but sadly died.
Today, Tuesday 5 December 2017, officers arrested three people at Smedley Road, Cheetham Hill, as part of a pre-planned operation in the early hours of the morning.
A 22-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
An 18-year-old man from Salford and a 17-year-old girl from Oldham were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
They remain in custody for questioning.
Senior Investigating Officer, Sergeant Lee Westhead, said: “We now have three people in custody as a result of this morning’s operation but I want to make it clear that our investigation does not stop here.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for taking an innocent man’s life are brought to justice.
“I would like to continue to appeal to the public to please come forward with any information they may have that could assist our investigation.”
