Officers are currently investigating the stabbing of a man in Benchill.
At around 3.05am this morning, police were called to a house on Walney Road to reports that a man had been stabbed.
Emergency services attended and a 23-year-old man was found at the address with stab wounds to his chest. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
Detective Inspector Lisa Ogden of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “It’s not known, at this stage, why this happened however, we do believe this was a targeted attack and we have a dedicated team of officers working to understand this.
“Information from the public is really useful to us when we’re looking to solve a crime so I’d like to stress how important it is for those may know something or who have seen something to get in touch with us.
“I understand that serious crimes like this are very worrying but I want to make sure people know we will do our utmost to bring these attackers into the criminal justice system where they will answer for their actions which could have cost a man his life.”
