Woman seriously injured in Little Hulton collision

A woman suffered serious leg and pelvis injuries after a collision in Over Hulton.

Shortly before 1pm on Monday 9 July 2018 a woman was at the roundabout at Watergate Lane and Salford Road when a HGV collided with her.

The woman – who is in her 20s - suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

The HGV did not stop at the scene.

A section of Watergate Lane was closed southbound for around three hours while officers investigated at the scene.

PC Phil Shaw, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a terrible collision involving a young woman who is currently very poorly as a result of her injuries.

“We have been trying to understand exactly what happened and our initial enquiries suggest that driver might not know he collided with a person but this is something we need to establish.

“If you were a driving a HGV and were using the roundabout around the time of the collision I would urge you to contact us.

“We need to get the full facts and understand the full circumstances.

“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dash-cam footage, to also get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should call SCIU on 0161 4743 1016 quoting incident number 1016 of 9 July 2018.
