Appeal for witnesses after a collision in Reddish

Police are appealing for information after a collision in Reddish left a man in a critical condition.

Shortly before 6am on Monday 19 February 2018, a Ford Transit van was travelling south along Reddish Road towards Stockport.

At the same time, a 59-year-old man was crossing the road when he was involved in a collision with the van.

He was taken to hospital for treatment of his serious injuries, where he is now in a critical condition.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and help with their enquiries.

Sergeant Jonathan McColl of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The collision happened at a time when a lot of commuters would have been heading out for the day, so if Reddish Road is on your route and you saw the van that morning, contact police.

“Please, if you have dash-cam footage from the area, or know something that could help with our enquiries, get in touch with us as soon as you can.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 or 101, quoting incident number 289 of 19/02/18. Reports can also be made anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
