A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a collision in Denton.
Shortly after 11.40am on Friday 6 April 2018, police were called to reports that a car had collided with a shop on Manchester Road in Denton.
A silver Mercedes SUV had been driving along Manchester Road towards Hyde before it collided with two shop fronts and a bus shelter.
It is believed the 37-year-old driver fell ill at the wheel prior to the collision.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
Manchester Road was closed at the junction with Queen Street but has since reopened.
Police Sergeant Brian Orr, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are doing all we can to support the man’s family while he receives treatment in hospital and our thoughts remain with them.
“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision remain ongoing and I would urge anyone that witnessed the incident to please get in touch.
“The eastbound carriageway of Manchester Road was closed at its junction with Peel Street for over four hours while investigation work was carried out and I would like to thank the public for their patience.”
