A group of masked men ram raided a convenience store in Newton Heath.

Shortly after 1.20am on Thursday 5 October 2017, police were called to reports of an armed robbery at Fresh ‘n’ Frozen on Assheton Road.

The thieves entered the store and dragged out a cash machine which contained a quantity of cash.

The offenders all wore black clothing with balaclavas to conceal their identity.

They fled the scene in a black SUV.

Fortunately nobody was injured but a significant amount of damage has been caused to the property.

Detective Sergeant Simon Halliwell of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “This was a brazen and greedy attack where the men showed absolutely no regard for this property.

“Fortunately no-one was in the store at the time or this could have potentially led to devastating consequences.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 85 of 05/10/17, or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
