Your Inspector

Bryn Williams
Our main priority at present is anti-social behaviour, particularly that caused by young people on the streets.
We are focusing on this for two reasons, the first being that it is consistently raised as a major issue of concern by our residents.
The second reason is because I believe that tackling the behaviour of rowdy and inconsiderate young people will lead to a reduction in criminal offending within that age group. If they are challenged and prevented from misbehaving at a minor level, it follows that they will be less likely to become involved in the next level of criminality as the will learn that they cannot get away with unacceptable behaviour.
We have had some excellent success tackling anti-social behaviour over the last three years:
In Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor there were 1,011 incidents of anti-social behaviour on the streets in 2007 and last year this fell to 680 - a reduction of 33 per cent. Similarly the number of incidents related to nuisance motorcycling fell by 23 per cent.
In addition, the total amount of crime in these areas has fallen by 19 per cent since 2007.
In Bury West the amount of street anti-social behaviour fell by 44 per cent and nuisance motorcycling went down by 33 per cent over these three years and the total amount of crime has fallen by ten per cent since 2007.
In Radcliffe the amount of street anti-social behaviour has fallen by 29 per cent and nuisance motorcycling went down by 39 per cent over these three years and the total amount of crime has fallen by 11 per cent since 2007.
These statistics are extremely pleasing and are due to the hard work of my officers, working in partnership with other agencies such as the local authority, and Youth Offending Service. The support and assistance of members of the community has also been invaluable.
We will continue to build links with our communities over the coming months and I would invite you to make contact with your NPT at one of our regular surgeries to discuss policing issues in your neighbourhood so that together we can further reduce crime and disorder.
If you're looking for things to do why not come along to a local event where a number of Bury West Neighbourhood Officers will be on hand to talk to you about your community.
