Your Inspector

Inspector Karen Taylor

Karen Taylor

Anti-social behaviour and criminal damage are the two main issues that you have told us are affecting your quality of life.

In the Queen Street area of Shaw, we have put extra patrols in place and we are also working with Oldham Council to improve the lighting in the area. Anti-social behaviour on the Railway Estate is also a concern. Again patrols have been increased at key times and we have been speaking to residents to gather information about who may be responsible.

We have also been cracking down on drug-related crime and I’m pleased to tell you that four people have now been charged after a large cannabis farm was found in May. More than 3,300 plants were seized from houses in Royton and Middleton, with an estimated street value of £1.5 million. This great result is thanks to information from the community, so please continue to tell us about crime and anti-social behaviour so we can act on it.

Following a recent rise in burglary we launched Operation Microline, a week-long operation to target known offenders. On the first day of the operation, neighbourhood officers arrested four people after they had just committed a burglary. As a result of these arrests no further burglaries were reported.

If you have an issue with crime or anti-social behaviour where you live then please contact us by phone or email, or come along to a community meeting.

Thank you

Inspector Karen Taylor
