Your Inspector

Motorists in Salford are being urged to have safety screws fitted to their cars plate to prevent their vehicle registration plate being stolen.
A number of clinic's have taken place where officers from the Salford North Neighbourhood Policing Team have been on hand to distribute specialist tamper proof screws free of charge that can be fitted to a vehicle to make the registration plate harder to remove. They have also been advising motorists on the simple steps they can take to prevent their possessions being stolen from their vehicle. If you want safety screws for your car, please phone us on 0161 856 5228.
You can also ensure your vehicle is less attractive to opportunist thieves by removing valuables. Leaving items such as laptops or mobile phones in full view is means it is likely they will disappear by the time you get back to your car. Please make sure you have locked your car and set an alarm if you have one. Empty your glove compartment and leave it open so people can see that there is nothing in.
Although it looks like the summer weather may be over for this year, please continue to keep doors and windows shut and locked even when you are in - One in three burglaries are down to thieves getting in through open doors and windows. Keep gadgets and valuables out of sight and away from windows. Use lights, radios and timer switches, this will make your home look occupied and if you have an alarm, please use it.
To report a crime call 0161 872 5050. If it is an emergency, where there is a threat to life or crime in progress, please call 999.
There are a number of Police And Communities Together (PACT) meetings and surgeries taking place across the neighbourhood. These are an ideal way to meet your local officer and discuss issues that may be affecting you and your family. Dates and details are on the left hand side of the screen.
