When we speak to our communities, we are told that burglary, anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime are the issues that concern you the most.

We have done, and are continuing to do a lot of work to tackle burglary across Altrincham. The warmer weather means people are more likely to leave their windows and doors insecure – a factor that contributes to a third of all burglaries. To combat this, we are increasing our uniformed and plain-clothed patrols in hot spot areas at key times and conducting home visits and bail checks on some of our most prolific offenders.

To tackle anti-social behaviour, we are running a number of initiatives including Operation Stay Safe. As part of this, officers patrol hot spot areas with partners and look for youngsters that may be vulnerable to alcohol, crime or drugs. They are escorted to a designated place where they are offered professional health and welfare advice while they wait for parents or guardians to collect them.

We are also conducting high visibility and plain clothed officer patrols in vehicle crime hot spots such as town centre car parks and are holding free security screw-fitting clinics to tackle vehicle crime.
