Citizen's Contract

A big thank you

More than 2,500 people took some time to get involved and take part in an online survey about the future of policing.

The Citizen’s Contract consultation ran until the end of April and included more than 40 meetings taking place across Greater Manchester.

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: “We had a tremendous response with really valuable feedback both at the meetings and through the survey. We now need to review and analyse this information.

“The consultation was the start of an ongoing conversation with local people about policing and how we can work together to keep our communities safe. We have great support from local people and it is vital for us to meet the challenges and provide the best possible service. We all have a part to play.”

Since 2010 GMP has seen a reduction of 2,000 police officers and a major programme of work to transform policing is underway.

A key part of the future is to create a Citizen’s Contract outlining what GMP will do and also what we need residents in Greater Manchester to do. You can find out more about it below:

To develop the Citizen’s Contract the feedback will be used from the meetings, surveys, comments and internal discussions with officers and staff. It is hoped that the Citizen’s Contract will launch in the summer.
