We’re here to serve all the communities across Greater Manchester.

Every year we handle about 2.5 million calls across an area of about 500 square miles from Stockport in the South to Bury, Rochdale and Oldham in the North and East.

It’s a big job but satisfying – and it offers a variety of equally satisfying, and exciting career opportunities.

These opportunities cross a range of roles, from police officers through to non-uniformed support staff and volunteers. Each role is essential to helping us serve our diverse communities. Each provides an opportunity for a real career, providing real policing – by people like you.

Policing is not simply a job for police officers. It actually requires a large multi-disciplined team working together and making best use of the skills and resources available. In fact, a large proportion of GMP’s workforce is made up of both uniformed and non-uniformed staff roles.

These roles play a crucial part in supporting frontline policing. Whether you’re interested in a public-facing role or playing your part behind the scenes, there are a number of potential career options.
