/ Appeal after robbery in Gatley

Police are appealing for information after a pair on a motorbike stole an empty cash box in Gatley.

At around 2.30pm on Wednesday 25 October 2017, police were called to reports of a robbery on Church Road.

Two men had approached a cash in transit van on their motorbike.

They stopped and shouted at the man driving the van, asking him to hand over the box he was carrying.

He then threw this box at the group, which they picked up and pushed towards the man’s chest, demanding that he open it.

The two offenders then left on their bike in the direction of Styal Road.

Detective Constable Tricia Solomon of GMP’s Stockport Borough, said: “Thankfully the box the offenders stole was empty, but this still must have been incredibly traumatic for the man.

“They brazenly tried to steal money in the middle of the day, and could have caught other people in their bold attempt.

“Our investigation continues, but if anyone saw these men on their bike or knows anything that could help with our enquiries, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 1152 of 25/10/17. This can also be done anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
