/ Fail-to-stop collision in Golborne

A cyclist was left with serious injuries after a fail-to-stop collision in Golborne.

At about 10.30pm on Wednesday 18 October 2017, a 48-year-old man was cycling on a Boardman road bike on Warrington Road when a car approached from behind and collided with the bike.

The car then left the scene in the direction of the A580 East Lancashire Road and there is no description of the car or driver.

The cyclist was taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries to his face and multiple fractures to his body.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.

Police Constable Jonathan McColl of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “To leave a man in the road with serious injuries and then flee the scene is disgraceful.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have a description of the car but I would appeal to anyone who was driving in the area and has dash-cam footage to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
