/ Investigation launched after shots fired in Gorton

Police have launched an investigation after shots were fired at a car in Gorton.

At around 7.30pm police were called to reports of a firearm discharge on Dorlan Avenue in Gorton.

Officers attended and it was discovered that three shots had been fired at a white Range Rover Sport parked on a drive outside a house with a family inside.

A witness went outside to investigate the bangs and saw two men acting suspiciously, both wearing dark clothing and a dark hoodie, one was around 6ft tall, the other slightly shorter, both made off after the third loud bag.

DS Tim Greenwood from GMP's CID team said: "Luckily no one was injured in this incident, but when guns are used, particularly on suburban streets, there are always terrifying consequences.

"We are appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw anyone acting suspiciously to get in touch.

"Guns, and those who use them, are not welcome on the streets of Greater Manchester."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 6460, alternatively call 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
