A 78-year-old man who was involved in a collision in Heywood, has sadly died.
At around 7.30pm on Saturday 21 October 2017, police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Bury New Road.
A blue Peugeot 206 had been travelling along the road towards Heywood, when it was involved in a collision with a 78-year-old man who was crossing the road.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died as a result of his injuries.
Police Constable Dermot Murray of GMP’s Serious Collision Unit, said: “This elderly man was simply crossing the road and it’s devastating that he’s now lost his life.
“My thought’s go out to his family and friends at this difficult time, who are being supported by specialist officers.
“I’m asking for anyone who was in the area in particularly the driver of a white Ford Transit panel van and also a dark coloured Honda CRV, who may have witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage from around this time, to send anything that could help with our investigation to police.”
