/ Appeal after two men assaulted in Ashton-under-Lyne

Appeal launched after two men were assaulted in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday 18 October 2017, police were called to reports of an assault on Wellington Road.

A 21-year-old and a 32-year-old man were with their friends and as they passed a parked vehicle, heard wolf-whistling behind them.

The victims turned around to see two men, who had got out of their car, running towards them.

They then hit the victims repeatedly, before running back to their silver car and driving away.

Detective Constable Jo Lockett of GMP’s Tameside Borough, said: “These men were with their friends, minding their own business, when they were brutally attacked by these two offenders.

“They showed extreme cowardice in their actions, by wolf-whistling at the group from the safety of their car and then fleeing from the scene once they’d assaulted the men.

“I’m asking for anyone who may have been on Wellington Road at the time, or who saw the group that evening, to please share what you know with police.”
