Shortly before 11pm on Monday 9 October 2017, police were called to reports of an assault on Chorley Old Road.

A 49-year-old man had been outside a Spar shop on the road when he was approached by a man who shouted at him.

The offender then stabbed the man a number of times before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

Police have now released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with this incident.

“We have released an image of a man we wish to speak to in connection with the incident, and are asking for anyone who recognises him to please help us identify who he is.

“Similarly, we’d ask anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything to suspicious, to share what you know with police.”
