/ 96 New recruits attested as police constables

Asifa Gulzar worked as an ambassador for Manchester City Council before joining GMP.

The 36-year previously carried out enterprise work with children before taking on a role as a local resolution officer. In her spare time she crochets octopus cuddle buddies for premature babies in intensive care.

She said: “I really enjoyed working as a local resolution officer it showed me the importance of working with victims, supporting them and being there for them.”

She carried out the role for 18 months before applying to become an officer.

Asifa added: “The role was brilliant as it was a good way of understanding and witnessing the world of policing while also getting the opportunity to speak to the public.

“I’m now looking forward to my time as a response officer and I want to be able to immerse myself in the community.”

Asifa will be posted to the Trafford Division. She and 95 other new recruits were attested into the role of police constable last Tuesday at a formal ceremony held at Stockport Town Hall.
