/ Men armed with weapons targeted a shop in Cheetham Hill

Police are appealing for witnesses after men armed with weapons targeted a shop in Cheetham Hill.

At about 5.45pm on Friday 14 April 2017, three men armed with machetes and a lump hammer went into the B&M Bargains shop on The Fort shopping park. They threatened staff and stole cash boxes, before fleeing in a black Ford Focus. The car was later recovered on Richborough Close, in Broughton, Salford.

Two of the men wore all black clothing and one wore a grey top. All three were wearing balaclavas.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Gary Smith of GMP’s City of Manchester Team said: “It is fortunate that no-one was injured but being threatened with weapons has left staff extremely shaken.

“If you saw three men wearing balaclavas in the area at the time, or perhaps you saw them fleeing the robbery, I would urge you to get in touch with police.

“You may hold a vital piece of information that could help us catch the people that threatened innocent people with violence.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 1146, 101 quoting incident number 15555 of 14/04/17, or the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
