/ Man died after collision in Manchester City Centre

A man has died following a collision in Manchester City Centre.

Shortly after 9.20am today (Tuesday 19 February 2019), police were called to reports of a collision between a truck and a pedestrian on New York Street in Manchester City Centre.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian – a man believed to be in his 50’s – was taken to hospital where he sadly died from his injuries.

Police are currently working to update the man’s family so that specially trained officers can support them at this time.

New York Street remains closed while investigation work is carried out.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains in custody for questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing.
