Police have released CCTV footage after a man in his 60s was attacked and robbed in an alleyway.
Around 7pm on Saturday 6 January 2018, a 64-year-old man was walking from Salford into the city centre to meet a friend.
He walked through an alleyway between Parsonage and Deansgate, near to Blackfriars, where he was seriously assaulted by two unknown people resulting in broken ribs, a broken tooth and severe bruising to his face.
His mobile phone and wallet were also stolen in the attack.
Officers investigating the incident are appealing for people with information to come forward.
Police Constable Pete Martin of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “This was a really violent and sustained assault and realistically, the victim was lucky to escape with comparatively minor injuries.
“Although we’ve been following leads and trawling through CCTV, we haven’t yet found those responsible so I’m hoping by releasing this footage, we’ll be able to make some significant progress in our investigation.”
