/ Three arrests after 500 cannabis plants found in raid

Police have arrested three people after more than 500 cannabis plants were uncovered during a raid in Rochdale.

Earlier today (Wednesday 20 February 2019) officers from GMP’s Rochdale District executed a warrant at a mill on Clegg Hall Road in Littleborough.

Three men aged 43, 33 and 49 have been arrested on suspicion of production of a controlled drug and cultivation of cannabis.

They remain in custody for questioning.

The warrant was executed as part of a pre-planned operation targeting the supply of drugs in Rochdale.

A scene remains in place at the mill and enquiries are ongoing.

Superintendent John-Paul Ruffle of GMP’s Rochdale District said: “Today’s raid has uncovered a very significant quantity of drugs.

“Thanks to the professionalism and dedication of our officers, we have been able to disrupt a large criminal enterprise.

“While we have three people in custody, our enquiries remain ongoing and we’d appeal to anyone with information to contact police.

“Drugs blight communities and ruin lives. Their sale is often used to fund further criminality.

“We will not hesitate to use all the powers at our disposal to target those who seek to profit from the sale of drugs.

“As always, our most useful weapon against drug dealers is information we receive from communities. If you suspect drugs are being sold or cultivated where you live – contact us immediately.”

Information can be left with police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
