A bus driver was robbed at knifepoint in Stockport.

At around 5pm on Monday 13 August 2012, the driver was parked in a bus lay-by on Chester Road, Woodford near to Church Lane and was stood outside the vehicle.

He was then approached by a man in dark clothing.

The offender threatened him with a knife and demanded he handed over money before walking off towards Church Lane.

The bus driver was not hurt.

The man is described as being white, 5ft 10in tall and wore a black raincoat with the hood pulled over his head and a black beanie hat. He wore black gloves, black tracksuit trousers and black trainers. He also wore a black scarf or snood that covered the bottom half of his face.

Police Constable Karl Lukoschek from the Volume Crime Team said: “The bus driver feared for his safety and has been left shaken after his ordeal. Thankfully, the bus CCTV has captured a good quality image of the offender and I would ask anyone who may have seen the robbery to contact us.

“Following inquiries, we believe the man got out of a silver Vauxhall Astra that was parked on Church Road before the robbery and drove off after it. We also believe the car was being driven by a second person.

“If you saw the car before or after the incident, I would urge you to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 9790 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
