Two friends were viciously attacked on their way home from a night out in Urmston.

At about 2.15am on Sunday 2 September 2012 two men aged 29 and 30 were walking down Flixton Road alongside the railway station with a group of friends.

One of the men was separated from the group when he was approached by two men who punched and kicked him in the face and head, his friend tried to intervene and was also assaulted. The two offenders ran off towards Eden Square.

The offenders are both described as white men, about 6ft tall. One of the men was wearing light coloured trousers and t shirt and the other was wearing dark jeans and a dark t shirt with a light coloured logo on the front.

Two men aged 16 and 19 have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They have both been bailed until 24 September 2012 pending further inquiries.

Detective Constable Izzy Graham from Trafford CID, said: “This was an unprovoked violent attack on two young men enjoying a night out with friends, which has left one of the victims with a fractured cheekbone and jaw.

“We have arrested two men in connection with this incident but our investigation is still ongoing as we establish the circumstances around what happened that night.

“If you were in Urmston in the early hours of Sunday morning and witnessed the attack or saw the two men matching the descriptions running from the scene, please contact me.”
