Your Inspector

Dave Stopford
The Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to tackle the issues that you have told us about.
In Failsworth West, anti-social behaviour around Tesco on Ashton Road continues to be a priority concern. CCTV is being monitored, officers are visiting parents, and the supermarket is also being used as a base for neighbourhood officers at the weekend so they can respond to incidents more quickly. We are also working with our partners to look at the provision of diversionary activities in the area.
Similar concerns have been raised by residents in Failsworth East and Hollinwood. In response we have additional patrols in place and we continue to work with residents, Oldham Council and youth services to identify the culprits and speak to young people about the consequences of getting involved in anti-social behaviour.
Alcohol-related crime and disorder along Oldham Road is also a priority issue. At times the sheer volume of people can create problems and we have run a number of operations, which include increased high visibility patrols on Friday and Saturday nights and carrying out regular visits to licensed premises. We are also working closely with the local pubs and attend the Pub Watch meetings.
Encouraging revellers to drink responsibly is vital to reducing alcohol-related incidents. So if you’re going out in Failsworth, please remember to pace your drinks, stay with friends and take a trusted taxi home.
Thank you
Inspector Dave Stopford
