Your Neighbourhood Area Policing Team

Your Inspector

Inspector Stephen Bailey

Stephen Bailey

Residents living in the Kersal, Broughton and Irwell Riverside area can feel safer following a successful operation aimed at driving down crime.

Operation Scholar was set up to reduce the number of burglaries, robberies and vehicle crimes taking place between mid November and the end of December. According to figures, burglary went down by 36 per cent compared to the same period in 2008. That is 37 fewer crimes taking place.

Vehicle crime reduced by 25 percent, meaning 54 fewer incidents and robbery went down from 18 incidents to 14 incidents.

These figures are encouraging but I want to see more reductions throughout the year. You can help by making your property safe and reporting crime.

Please keep doors and windows shut and locked even when you are in - One in three burglaries are down to thieves getting in through open doors and windows. Keep gadgets and valuables out of sight and away from windows. If you are going out, use a timer alongside a light to give the impression that someone is in. If you have an alarm, use it.

When it comes to keeping your vehicle safe from crime, remove all your valuables and make sure nothing is left on show. Take all items out of your glove compartment and leave it open to show there is nothing worth stealing. Remember, if you give them an easy opportunity they will take it.

Police in Salford are continuing to work towards delivering the Policing Pledge, giving people a clear minimum standard of service they can expect from their local police.

We will be asking for input from members of the public to influence the policing of neighbourhoods, to ensure our service is focused on the needs of local communities, addressing the issues that matter most to people in Salford.

Don't forget, you can discuss with your local officers the priorities you want us to tackle in your neighbourhood. We have numerous Police And Communities Together (PACT) meetings and surgeries taking place. Dates and locations can be found in the section to the left.

Reported Crime Figures for your Neighbourhood

What are your Priorities?

Salford East Neighbourhood Policing Team aims to provide you with the best possible police service and we are here to listen and respond to matters that concern you the most.

There are many ways you can have your say and influence what your local Neighbourhood Policing Team concentrate on. We hold regular community meetings and police surgeries where you can meet the team and raise any policing issues you have. Or, you can complete a brief on-line questionnaire where you can highlight any concerns you may have about crime or anti-social behaviour in this area.

All this information is then collated and fed back into formal monthly meetings where the neighbourhood priorities will be set.

We will then take these and work with other agencies to deal with your neighbourhood priorities, and report back through this site as well as the meetings and police surgeries, to tell you what we have done to help resolve your issues.
