Your Inspector

Jill Gorse
There have been a number of incidents in the neighbourhood that have diesel fuel syphoned from commercial trucks. Although there have been no reports of residents' vehicles being targeted, if you see any suspicious behaviour, please report it to police.
Burglars are always on the look out for an easy opportunity to steal your items but by taking a few simple steps, you can help protect your home. Please keep doors and windows shut and locked even when you are in - One in three burglaries are down to thieves getting in through open doors and windows. Keep gadgets and valuables out of sight and away from windows. Use lights, radios and timer switches, this will make your home look occupied and if you have an alarm, please use it. I know the weather has been hot but the more you do to protect your property, the less likely you will fall victim to this type of crime.
To avoid falling victim to vehicle crime, take all valuables out of your vehicle, remove the CD or stereo fascia, take all items out of your glove compartment and leave it open so thieves can see it is empty and using a wipe and remove any marks left on the vehicle windscreen by sat navs. By removing temptation, you reduce the chances of your vehicle being broken into.
By reporting crime, you are giving out the message to those who want to steal or cause trouble that their actions will not be tolerated. To report a crime, call 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, 0800 555 111. To report a crime in progress or a threat to life please phone 999.
Don't forget we are continuing to hold Police And Communities Together (PACT) meetings and surgeries so you can meet your local officer and discuss issues that may be affecting you and your family.
