Priorities set by residents and summer activities for young people are helping to reduce anti-social behaviour in Salford.

Anti-social behaviour is falling across the city with significant reductions in west Salford. There was a 15%, 44% and 49% reduction in the Little Hulton, Wakden North, Walkden South, Worsley, Boothstown and Ellenbrook area in June, July and August this year compared to the same months in 2009. That means there were 354 fewer incidents reported.

We are being told at PACT meetings and community committees that anti-social behaviour is one of the main issues for residents and they want something done about it. We have increased PCSO patrols and they are talking to young people. However, persistent offenders should be reminded that if, in spite of all efforts made to talk with them, their behaviour continues to be unacceptable, strict enforcement action will be taken

To avoid becoming the next victim of vehicle crime, take all your valuables out of your car. By leaving a laptop or mobile phone in full view, an opportunist thief wouldn't think twice about taking them. Please check that everything has been taken out before leaving your vehicle.

To report a crime call 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

If you want to influence how your neighbourhood is policed and meet your local officer, you can come to our Police And Communities Together meetings and surgeries. These are ideal ways to discuss any issues you may have. Dates, times and locations are under the meetings section of the page. As part of our Service Promise, we will listen to you and understand your concerns, take action to address the crimes and incidents that are your priorities and work with you to make your neighbourhood safer.
