Your Inspector

Dave Stopford
The Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to tackle the issues that you have told us about.
Alcohol-related crime and disorder along Oldham Road is also a priority issue. At times the sheer volume of people can create problems and we have run a number of operations, which include increased high visibility patrols on Friday and Saturday nights and carrying out regular visits to licensed premises. We are also working closely with the local pubs and attend the Pub Watch meetings.
Encouraging revellers to drink responsibly is vital to reducing alcohol-related incidents. So if you’re going out in Failsworth, please remember to pace your drinks, stay with friends and take a trusted taxi home.
A Challenge 25 scheme has also been launched in Failsworth. Licensed retailers are being encouraged to sign up to the scheme, which will mean that if you look under the age of 25, you will need to provide valid ID if you want to buy alcohol.
This is just another tactic to help tackle underage drinking, and the anti-social behaviour that usually comes hand in hand.
Please continue to tell us what issues you want us to focus by contacting us by phone or email, or stop and chat with us when we’re out on patrol.
Residents are also invited to attend the next Partners and Communities Together meeting (PACT) on Wednesday 1 September, 7pm, at TRA Tenants Hall, Blackthorn Road. Please come along and have your say.
Thank you
Inspector Dave Stopford
