Your Inspector

Brendan O'Brien
The Stockport East Neighbourhood Policing Team communities include Marple, Werneth, Offerton, Hazel Grove and High Lane.
While preventing and detecting crime is part of our core business, it's also our job to stamp out incidents of anti social behaviour. To this end we have stepped up our targeting of problem pubs and off licences together with Stockport Council's Licensing team, Trading Standards and HM Customs.
As well as dealing with the anti social behaviour caused by the sale of alcohol at these premises we are also conducting rigorous checks on their stock which has revealed several examples of counterfeit and non duty paid alcohol. By working closely with the local council we are able to utilise powers and skills the police do not have - this is how I believe we will crack alcohol fuelled anti social behaviour, through a wide range of measures delivered in a coordinated way by the agencies who have a responsibility for making Stockport safer.
If you have any information on people who are thieving, dealing in stolen goods or drugs or carrying out illegal loan shark businesses please, in confidence, let us know. Your piece of information may help us to obtain search warrants and secure convictions for those criminals profiting from you or your friends and neighbours. Alternatively give the information anonymously via Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 – you will not even be asked for your name.
As well as dealing with the crime and anti social behaviour that matters to you, another of my aims is to assist communities to form effective partnerships in the form of Residents Associations and Neighbourhood Watch. Through such networks small and large communities are able to voice their views and in turn influence the decisions we make about tackling crime and anti social behaviour. Such networks are also perfectly suited for us to get the message back to you about what action we are taking to make Stockport East a safer place.
Please contact my team on the details listed below to find out more.
I consider the communities in Stockport East to be my boss, so please let us know what your concerns are.
