The Stockport West Neighbourhood Policing Team communities include Adswood, Cheadle, Gatley, Heald Green, Cheadle Hulme, Bramhall and Woodford.
My officers are patrolling small zones at night on bikes and on foot, stopping and checking the details of anybody acting suspiciously. Suspected offenders are being targeted and the friends and family of known offenders are being visited. Members of the public are commenting on how pleased they are to see such an increased presence on the streets – You can make it hard for offenders by locking your doors and windows, especially as the nights get brighther. Also keep your keys hidden and away from view.
Anti-social behaviour is your main priority and we are tackling this head on, especially during the summer holidays. Young people can visit safe4summer.com to see what activities are avilavble for them over the summer holidays. This will help to keep them in constructive, diversionary activities.
Anti-social behaviour and youth causing annoyance is also linked to street drinking. Test purchasing, where an underage actor goes in to an off-licence to buy alcohol, is continuing to take place in the area. We have put a lot of time into educating shop owners and reminding them of their responsibilities and we will continue to make unannounced visits to ensure they are abiding by the conditions of their licence.
If you do have any information that will be useful to us please call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 – where you will not have to leave a statement or give your name.
I look forward to updating you with some more positive results in the near future.
