In response to concerns raised by members of the community, the Stretford Neighbourhood Policing Team has done a lot of work recently to combat the use and dealing of illegal drugs.

On Tuesday 8 June, officers searched a property on Ayton Court and recovered 223 harvested cannabis plants, believed to have a total street value of £120,000.

Moreover, on 26 May officers used drugs detection dogs to search the grounds and classrooms to Stretford High School. Although no drugs were found, officers gave students a talk on the dangers and consequences of illegal substances and answered questions.

It is hoped that the groundbreaking initiative for the borough will be rolled out across other schools in the future.

We have also been working to tackle anti-social behaviour (asb) and worked with the council’s asb team to secure a three-year anti-social behaviour order for 23-year-old Germaine Bellamy of Stamford Street. Under the order, which was granted on 15 June, Bellamy must refrain from engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour, associating with named individuals, riding a bike in a manner likely to cause harassment or possessing fireworks.
