I am Inspector Steve Jameson, and I am delighted to have been given responsibility for Neighbourhood policing in the Rochdale Central, Spotland & Falinge, Shawclough & Healey and Norden & Bamford areas. My previous posting was the same role in the Middleton area, and so this new position is in an area that I am familiar with.
In nearly twenty years of policing, I have worked in both Response and Neighbourhood roles in the Moss Side and Rochdale areas, and I returned to the Rochdale borough after seven years in the Specialist Protective Services branch. I have always preferred frontline roles and I am looking forward to this new challenge.
In a previous role, I worked closely with partners at Manchester Airport to bring about reductions in Anti-Social Behaviour and target those who caused distress to others. I see exactly the same need to work with partner agencies here at Rochdale, to deliver the best possible service and make it a safer place for all who live or work here.
I am fortunate to have inherited an excellent team, who share my passion for delivering first class service and are dedicated to the area. I have already seen some fantastic pro-active work from them, but also the links that they have forged with our local community. Many of them will already be known to you, as they have been in post for some time.
Our team is responsible for a varied geographic area, with a diverse mixture of cultures and faiths within it. The Neighbourhood encompasses areas of high-density housing at one extreme, with rural farmland at the other. As a result, the officers in my team tackle a variety of different issues and have different approaches dependent upon the nature of the problem.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. Our Township Committee and PACT meetings are advertised on our GMP Rochdale Facebook page, or we can be contacted via the contact details on this website.
