I am Rob Hawksley, Police Inspector with responsibility for neighbourhood policing in Hazel Grove, Great Moor, Offerton and Woodsmoor.
I transferred to the Stockport Division in January this year, having spent 17 years on the City of Manchester Division, covering Manchester city centre and Moss Side. It has been a pleasure to join the neighbourhood officers and understand the great work they are doing.
The neighbourhood officers are a specialist team, their emphasis being on problem solving, working with partners to tackle the root causes of crime and antisocial behaviour.
The priority community issue that we are focusing on is anti-social behaviour, particularly around hotspots such as the fast food outlets in Hazel Grove. Operation Barometer, which tackles a range of antisocial behaviour and crime issues, has been running for several months now. Extra patrols have been out and about, particularly ate the weekends. We are pleased to report that several key offenders have been arrested and placed before the courts. Some have been given Criminal Behaviour Orders banning them from the area and restricting their activities. Local feedback is that the operation is having a positive impact with reports of anti-social behaviour falling. The success of the operation is underpinned by community support and information, so please continue to help us in our efforts to make this neighbourhood a safer place for the community to enjoy.
There is lots of other work taking place across the neighbourhood with colleagues, partners, community groups and volunteers. We will bring you regular updates through our newsletters, web page, Twitter and Facebook. If you have a particular issue to discuss, or general feedback, please get in touch.
