My name is John Rowson and on behalf of my team welcome to our webpage for Atherton, Tyldesley, Astley and Mosley Common. As part of GMP’s focus on neighbourhood policing your area has a dedicated team of neighbourhood beat officers, neighbourhood police officers and police community support officers. They have ownership for their area and any issues within that area.
I started my police career as a young probationary Constable based at Tyldesley in 1993 and feel immensely proud to return to this area as the new neighbourhood Inspector. I have previously worked on the Salford Division as both a Neighbourhood Sergeant and Neighbourhood Inspector and have extensive experience of listening to the communities concerns and working with our partners to address them.
As we are in the summer months our main issues are burglaries and anti-social behaviour. A large proportion of burglaries reported at this time of year involve offenders entering via insecure doors and windows. I urge you to take the simple step of locking and protecting your property.
As we prepare for the seasonal threat of antisocial behaviour (ASB) we ask for your continued support in helping us tackle this issue. We will be working closely with partner agencies in order to deal effectively with ASB and a number of diversionary activities will be made available for young people.
It is important we all play a part in reducing ASB and with this in mind I would ask parents to consider the following:
- Know where your child is and who they are with
- Encourage them to participate in planned activities
- Don`t allow them to consume alcohol
- If you suspect alcohol or drug use, contact the relevant support agencies or school help and guidance.
